Evaluate SAP Upgrade Proposals

Client

 A global petro-chemical company specializing in oil refining technology engineering.

Project Goals

The company’s implementation of the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software application required updating. In addition, there was a desire to install additional modules , enhancements, and to maintain the upgraded system. In response to company-developed Requests for Proposals (RFPs) several competing proposals needed to be evaluated. Specifically the company needed:

• A way to objectively evaluate the various proposals against company needs and desires
• To ensure the viability of the vendors proposing
• A way to effectively negotiate with the selected vendor(s)

Deliverables

The project delivered:

• Pricing benchmark analysis
• An objective evaluation of each proposal which covered each vendor’s ability to complete the work, partnering capability, costs, proposed schedule, and training/knowledge transfer
• Detailed reference checks for each vendor
• Vendor recommendations
• Recommended contract negotiation approach and major issues to be addressed

Results

• The established a contract with the recommended off-shore vendor, successfully completed the upgrade, and are experiencing good ongoing service levels from the vendor
