Create Law Firm Information Technology Strategy

Client

One of the largest U.S. law firms representing management in the areas of labor, employment, civil rights, employee benefits, and immigration law. The firm has a national presence with 33 offices and more than 800 people.

Project Goals

The firm wished to understand how to effectively invest in information technology (IT) over the next three-to-five years. Specifically it wished to know:

• An assessment of its current information technology function
• Areas that may require major investment in the near future
• How those investments in information technology should be made

Deliverables

The project delivered a strategic plan for the IT function at the firm:

• A current state analysis of the information technology organization, application portfolio, and infrastructure portfolio
• A vision of what the information technology organization, application portfolio, and infrastructure portfolio should look like in three-to-five (3-5) years
• A work plan detailing projects, schedule, and financials for achieving the vision

Results

• The IT strategic plan was incorporated into the firm’s overall strategic plan
• Implementation of the work plan began immediately
